Click to zoom on the photos.
Here is one of the waves on our beach.

Here I was trying to see how close I could stand to an object for a photo. I am about 15 feet away and using the 18mm side of the lens.

We went for a bike ride today and found this field. It is the first colourful field of the spring which I was trying to capture. Hopefully the yellow helps to offset the dirt in the forground.

A typical dutch canal on my way home from work.
My first attempt at waves, I opened my apature all of the way to keep the shutter speed as fast as possible for the motion. It worked pretty well, but I can see the limitations of my kit lens.

Here we are late at night at the Den Haag train station. I was trying some high-ISO with large apature/slow shutter shots in here. My only problem is trying to balance the very bright (the sign and lights) with the very dim.

Here are some photos I took today:
My first wildlife shot, I was worried that I was going to scare the ducks so I stood back and used the 55mm end of the lens. Well, I had to scare them a little to stop them from putting their heads in the water for food.
Here I was having some fun with low and high light combinations in Delft. My wife/subject was trying to show her urban side. It sort of worked.
Here I am trying to take a shallow depth-of-view shot. The foreground is in focus but quickly fades. Katie was having fun looking for shells at the same time.

New Camera

Since last time posting, we've moved to Holland and bought a new dSLR camera. Here are results of our walk around town with the camera. It's a Canon EOS 550D and I really like it. I compared it with the Sony alpha 550D and the Nikon D3100. I chose this because of the image quality, LCD display quality and menu functionality.

This is the first photo I took, right outside my front door. Nothing special, but fun for me.
